Window Tinting in Shaw: A Mill Town on the Pennine Foothills
We fit window tinting in Shaw for houses, flats, shops and offices alike, using thin film on the inside of the glass rather than replacing it. Solar control film lowers the temperature of a sun-baked room without darkening it as much as most people expect. Where privacy is the worry, one-way film gives daytime cover without drawing a blind or darkening the room much.
Most jobs are finished in a day, and often in a morning. Warranty is ten years or more on most films, issued by the manufacturer. Royton, Crompton and Oldham and the neighbouring towns are all part of our regular patch.

Hillside and mill
The terraces and hillside houses want front-room privacy and a view. The old mills want solar film on big windows, or a near-clear film if they are listed. We reach high windows by tower.

- Houses with views
- Shaw sits on the Pennine foothills, and many houses have long views across the valley. Light films keep the view, and a heavier tint would defeat the reason for living there.
- Crompton Moor outlooks
- Houses on the upper edges of Shaw look toward Crompton Moor. Light and one-way films keep that view and take the sting out of low evening sun.
Costs for window tinting in Shaw
Film is priced per square metre, and the fitting is part of that price. Expect from about £60 for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard. In practice that means a bay window (roughly 3.5 m²) at £210 to £330, three-panel patio doors (roughly 6 m²) at £360 to £570, and a kitchen window (roughly 1.2 m²) at £70 to £115.
Windows at height are reached by tower or platform, and that access is included in the price you are given. We survey for free and put a single price in writing afterwards. There is an estimator on the window film prices page if you want to try your own sizes.
Shaw window film questions
Can you film high mill windows?
Yes, by tower or platform. We film pane by pane from the top down, and the access is included in the quote. Our fitters hold IPAF and PASMA cards for working at height, and access is surveyed first and included in the fixed quote, so tall or awkward glass is filmed safely and with no surprise extras on the day.
Will film keep my view?
Yes. One-way and light films do. Not if you choose well. One-way, reflective and light neutral films all keep a clear view out in daylight. A darker film changes the view more, which is why we hold samples against your own window, at the time of day you use the room, before you decide.
How long does window tinting take in Shaw?
Most homes and shops are done in a day or less. Tall mill and industrial windows take longer because each floor is reached by tower or platform. A bay window or patio doors take an hour or two, a shopfront a morning and a whole house a day. Glass roofs, tall windows and larger commercial jobs may take longer, and we confirm the time in the quote.
Is there a warranty on window film?
Yes. Exposed hillside sites see harsh weather, but film is on the inside of the glass and is not touched by it. Manufacturers back the films we fit, typically for 10 years or more, and you receive the paperwork at handover. The warranty covers defects in the film itself when it is correctly fitted, and our fitters, who are employed by us, return if anything is not right.
