Window Tinting in Reddish: Mill Streets, Terraces and the Vale
Window tinting in Reddish covers a broad range of film: heat-rejecting solar film, privacy and frosted film, UV protection and security film, all fitted inside your existing glass. Where privacy is the worry, one-way film gives daytime cover without drawing a blind or darkening the room much. Solar control film is the film for glass that bakes: south and west-facing windows, conservatories and glass roofs.
We can often say from photos whether film will help and roughly what it would cost. We have been fitting window film across the North West for more than fifteen years. Whether you are in Heaton Chapel, Heaton Norris and Denton or elsewhere in Greater Manchester, you get the same survey and the same fixed price.

Window tinting in Reddish: the local picture
Reddish grew up around cotton mills, and its streets of terraces and mills still define it, with a green vale to one side. Housing is terraced and semi-detached; commercial glass is small units and shops.
Terraces, units and the mills
The terraces want ordinary front-room privacy. The mill buildings, and those that have become units and workshops, have big old windows that make a floor hot. Where a mill is listed, a near-clear film is safer than a reflective one. For a small unit, one-way film on reception glass and security film on the lower panes covers most needs.

- Old mills as workshops
- Some of the mills are now workshops with big old windows. We use a tower to reach them and agree consent if the building is listed.

What window film costs in Reddish
Prices are built from the area of glass. At roughly £60 per square metre for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard, the arithmetic is simple. As a guide, a bay window (around 3.5 m²) comes to about £210 in entry-level film or £330 in Solar Gard; a kitchen window (about 1.2 m²) to £70 or £115; and three-panel patio doors (around 6 m²) to £360 or £570.
Tall mill and industrial windows need a tower or platform, which is added to the quote. We fix one price in writing after the free survey, so there are no surprises on the day. Our Withington job gives a sense of scale.
Reddish window film questions
Can you film old mill windows?
Yes, using a tower or platform, with a film chosen for old glass. Mill windows are large and often listed, so we choose a film that reflects more than it absorbs and agree consent where needed.
Do listed mills need consent?
Possibly. A near-clear film is the safest. Listed status and conservation areas can restrict visible changes. Film on the inside is reversible and usually easier to agree, and a near-clear film is much less noticeable than a mirror finish, so we start there and advise you to check with the council where a building is protected.
Will window film damage my windows?
Film suits most modern glazing. On older glass, which can be thinner or single glazed, choosing a low-absorption film matters even more. The cases that need care are large panes, sealed units with coatings and glass partly in shade, and for those we choose a film that reflects heat rather than absorbing it. We would rather tell you not to fit film than risk your glass.
Which film is best for keeping a room cool?
Solar control film is the one for heat. Terraces usually have heat problems only at the back, so a light film on the rear glass is often enough. Reflective films reject the most and add daytime privacy. Light neutral films keep the glass looking clear. Near-clear premium films give strong heat rejection with almost no tint. We bring each to the survey so you can judge the room.
