Window Tinting in Orrell: A Hillside Suburb of Semis
Whether it is a house, shop or office, window tinting in Orrell starts with a visit, a few samples held against your glass and a fixed price. For privacy that does not switch off at night, frosted film keeps the light and loses the audience. Where privacy is the worry, one-way film gives daytime cover without drawing a blind or darkening the room much.
We will say plainly if film is not the right answer for your glass. Most of the films we fit are backed by a manufacturer's warranty of ten years or more. We cover Up Holland, Wigan and Shevington and the rest of Greater Manchester.

Orrell: the glass we see and what it needs
Orrell is a hillside suburb of Wigan, with semis and larger houses on a slope and views across the plain.
Slopes and views
Slopes bring views and overlooking in equal measure. One-way film gives daytime privacy and keeps the view, light neutral film cuts the sun, and frosted film handles the rooms that need privacy at night.

- Houses overlooked from below
- Because the suburb is on a slope, some rear rooms are overlooked from lower gardens. One-way film by day deals with it without darkening the room.
- A hillside suburb
- Orrell sits on a hill with views across the plain. Light films keep the view while taking the heat out of rear rooms.
What to expect to pay in Orrell
Film is priced per square metre, and the fitting is part of that price. Expect from about £60 for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard. In practice that means a glazed front door and side panels (roughly 2.5 m²) at £150 to £240, a bay window (roughly 3.5 m²) at £210 to £330, and three-panel patio doors (roughly 6 m²) at £360 to £570.
Measure first, quote second: you get one fixed written price after a free visit. Hillside houses sometimes need extra access for raised windows, which we check at the survey. If the glass has to stay almost perfectly clear, 3M's premium films start at £300 per square metre. For a sense of scale, see our Leigh job. For more examples, see the window film prices page.
Orrell window film questions
Will film keep my view?
Yes. Light, reflective and one-way films all keep a clear view out in daylight, so the view stays. We show samples against your own window at the time of day you use the room so you can judge how much it changes.
Is film worth it for one room?
Yes. It costs far less than blinds or new glazing. If one room is the problem, we film that room. Mirror and one-way films depend on the outside being brighter than the inside, so they reverse after dark. For round-the-clock privacy we recommend frosted film, or a light blind for the evening, and we explain this at every survey.
Will window film damage my windows?
Properly specified film is safe on most glass. Windows partly shaded by trees or hillsides heat unevenly, which is why we check shade at the survey. Because some films absorb heat, we check glass type, pane size and shade at the survey and choose a film that reflects more and absorbs less where there is a risk. If a pane is not suitable, we tell you.
Which film is best for keeping a room cool?
Solar control film is the one for heat. Hillside houses often face open skies with no shade, so rear rooms warm quickly. Reflective films reject the most and add daytime privacy. Light neutral films keep the glass looking clear. Near-clear premium films give strong heat rejection with almost no tint. We bring each to the survey so you can judge the room.
