Windows on two floors, all facing the garden
The rear of this house has a wide four-pane window upstairs and several on the ground floor. Every one of them is white uPVC, every one of them looks out onto the garden, and every one of them is on view from the neighbouring gardens.
Upstairs, a window that wide is the sort that overheats a bedroom.
A reflective film on the lot
We filmed the upstairs window and the ground-floor windows with a reflective solar film. In the single photo we have, the upstairs window is mirroring the sky, and the windows below are darker.
That difference is natural: the upstairs glass is reflecting a bright sky and the downstairs glass reflecting a shaded garden.
Upstairs and down in one go
A wide upstairs window is a big sheet to handle at height, so that was done from inside. The ground-floor windows were smaller and quicker, filmed in the same way.
White uPVC gives a very clear edge to trim against, which helps when the film is dark.
A back of the house that looks the same all over
The windows now match along the length of the rear elevation, upstairs and down. It looks neat and consistent, and the rooms behind are calmer in sunlight.
Questions about tinting a house at the back
Why does the upstairs window look more mirror-like than the ground floor?
Reflective film mirrors whatever is in front of it. Upstairs that is a bright sky. Downstairs it is a shaded garden, so the glass looks darker.
Can you film bedrooms?
Yes. Bedrooms are a common choice, for both heat and privacy. Remember reflective film reverses at night, so blinds stay useful.
Do you film the whole house in one go?
We can. We price the house as one job and fit window by window.
