Window tinting across Greater Manchester: the local picture
Greater Manchester is where most of our work happens. We fit window film for homes and businesses in all ten boroughs, from apartments in the city centre to stone houses on the Pennine edge, and the film that suits one is rarely right for the other.
This page is the starting point for the county. It shows how the work differs from borough to borough, which of our jobs are near you and where to find the page for your own town.
Do you cover my part of Greater Manchester?
Yes. We work in all ten boroughs: Manchester, Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Bolton and Wigan. Our published jobs cluster in south Manchester, Stockport and Trafford, but the survey, the samples and the fixed price work the same wherever you are in the county.
Three kinds of Greater Manchester glass
The county is not one market. What we are asked to do changes with the buildings.
The city centre
Towers, converted warehouses, offices, bars and shops. Large panes of glass on shared façades, building managers who need to approve the work, and jobs that are best done out of hours. Glare, heat, privacy and branding are the usual briefs.
The suburbs and the south
Victorian villas, 1930s semis, extensions, conservatories and glass garden rooms. This is the work we do most: heat and glare through bi-fold and patio doors, privacy at the front, and fading in rooms that face the sun.
The edges and the hills
Mill towns, Pennine villages, barn conversions, church halls and exposed hillside houses. Period property rules, tall glazed entrances and windows that need access equipment to reach.

What Greater Manchester asks us for
Offices: glare and partitions
Low sun across screens, and glass walls that need privacy and markings. See anti-glare film, frosted film and office window tinting.
Apartments: heat and consent
Top floors with floor-to-ceiling glass, and a managing agent to ask first. See flat and apartment tinting.
Homes: extensions and conservatories
Bi-fold doors, roof lanterns, glass roofs and front doors. See solar control film and conservatory tinting.
Shops and venues: fading, branding, security
Window displays, branded glass and ground-floor glass. See UV protection film, branded film and security film.
Permission, period property and shared buildings
Most Greater Manchester homes can be filmed without asking anyone. The exceptions are worth knowing about. Many suburbs and villages across the county have conservation areas, listed buildings are everywhere from mill conversions to Victorian terraces, and a reflective film that changes how a building looks from the street may need consent. We say so at the survey, and we can suggest a near-clear film where appearance matters.
Apartments are different again. In a leasehold block the glass often belongs to the freeholder, and managing agents tend to prefer a neutral finish to a mirror one. We supply the film's technical data and a sample so the request is easy to make. See our pages on flats and apartments and offices for how that works.
Planning a job anywhere in the county
Greater Manchester is compact enough that we can usually survey quickly, and we try to group visits by area, so if several neighbours or several units on one estate want film, say so. A shared survey day makes the visit easier to arrange and keeps the quote simple.
Before you ring, three things help: which rooms or units, which way the glass faces, and what is bothering you most. A few photos and rough sizes will often get a first price without a visit, and the survey and quote are free.

Greater Manchester window tinting questions
Do you need permission in a conservation area?
Often not for a film on the inside of the glass, but a reflective finish that changes how the building looks from the street can need consent, and listed buildings are stricter. Check with your council, and we can suggest a near-clear film that changes the look far less. Listed status and conservation areas can restrict visible changes. Film on the inside is reversible and usually easier to agree, and a near-clear film is much less noticeable than a mirror finish, so we start there and advise you to check with the council where a building is protected.
Can you work in apartment blocks?
Yes. Ask the managing agent first, because the glass is often the freeholder's. We provide technical data and a sample for the request, and fit at times that suit the building. We have filmed flats and apartments, and the process starts with the managing agent so the work is agreed before we arrive. Light neutral films that sit on the inside of the glass are the easiest to approve, and we supply the data sheet, warranty and insurance details they usually ask for.
Do you fit out of hours in the city centre?
Yes. Evenings and weekends are available, which suits offices, bars and shops that cannot close during the day. Evenings, weekends and closed days are all available, and most shopfronts and offices are fitted outside trading hours so there is no lost trade. We agree access, parking and security with you in advance and leave the glass clean and ready for opening.
How much does it cost in Greater Manchester?
The same as anywhere we work. Entry-level film starts at about £60 per square metre, Solar Gard at £95 and 3M at £300. See our window film prices for examples and a calculator. Most home jobs are priced from the glass area, so a bathroom window costs a few tens of pounds while a full house or a shopfront runs to hundreds. Travel inside Greater Manchester does not change the price, and the free survey gives you one fixed figure before any work begins.
Where can I see your work near me?
Every job we publish has its own page with photos and details. The table above links to the ones in each borough, and our work page has them all. Each job page has photos, the film used, the type of glass and what the customer wanted, so you can compare with your own windows. If you would like to see film on real glass before deciding, we also bring samples to the survey and hold them against your own windows.
How long does window tinting take?
Most homes and shops are done in a day or less, and larger commercial jobs are planned in stages around your hours. Offices are planned area by area so the floor stays usable, which can spread a bigger job over a few evenings. We confirm the time in the quote.
Why use a specialist window film fitter?
Window film is a specialist trade. Large office panes and partitions are the hardest to film cleanly by hand, and a patchy finish is on show to every visitor. Film cut to the pane and applied wet in a clean way has no bubbles, creases or gaps and is warranted, whereas a poor DIY job is hard to remove. Our fitters are employed by us, and insured, and fit film every day.
