Windows overlooked by the city
A corner building in the city centre is overlooked in every direction. The first-floor windows are above the bar, at the level of the opposite building's windows and a short step from the passing crowd.
The ground floor is the bar. What is above it is a different use, and it needs its own privacy.
Mirror film on the upper windows
We filmed the first-floor windows with a reflective solar film. In the photos they mirror the building opposite and the street, and they read as dark mirror glass.
The ground-floor lettering in the photos belongs to the bar. Our job was the windows above it.
Worth knowing: Reflective film is a daytime solution. Where a room is lit at night, blinds still have a part to play.
Working above a busy pavement
The windows are above shopfront height and above a busy street, so access matters. We planned the work so it would not interfere with the bar below.
Each pane was cleaned and filmed, with the film trimmed neatly to the grey frames.
An upper floor that gives nothing away
From the street, the first floor now reads as a row of mirror windows above the bar. The building looks tidy and consistent, and the upper rooms are calmer and more private.
After
AfterQuestions about filming upper-floor windows
Do you need scaffolding for first-floor windows?
Often not. We can film from inside, or use access equipment from outside. We decide at the survey.
Will the film work after dark?
Reflective film is a daytime solution. When the rooms are lit at night, people outside can see in, so blinds still have a part.
Does the landlord need to agree?
If you lease the property, check your lease or ask the landlord. We can provide technical details to help.
