Window Tinting for Salford Homes and Apartments: The Quays, Terraces and Worsley
Homeowners ask us for residential window tinting in Salford when a room is too hot, too bright or too exposed. Film is fitted to the inside of existing windows, which makes it quicker and cheaper than replacing glass. Frosted film gives the look of etched glass at a fraction of the price, and it can be taken off later. Anti-glare film is the answer when the problem is brightness rather than heat.
Most customers are surprised how quickly a house is done: windows are cleaned, measured, cut and fitted in a single visit. The result is visible the same day: the glare and heat difference is usually obvious as soon as the film is on. Whether you are in Worsley, Salford Quays and Ordsall or elsewhere in Greater Manchester, you get the same survey and the same fixed price.

Window film for Salford homes: what we find locally
Salford homes fall into three groups with three different glass problems. Apartments at the Quays have large windows, balconies and neighbours close enough to read your bookshelf. Terraces and older streets sit close to the pavement. And in Worsley the houses are bigger, with extensions, garden rooms and, increasingly, a home office at the bottom of the garden.
We fit window film for all three, and what we choose is different in each.
Three kinds of Salford home
Apartments at the Quays
Floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies, a managing agent to ask, and neighbours across the water. Neutral or light solar film for heat, frosted for bedrooms. See flat and apartment tinting.
Terraces and older streets
Front windows that open onto the pavement. One-way film by day with blinds or frosted film for the evening, and frosted film on bathroom and door glass. See privacy film.
Worsley and the larger homes
Extensions, bi-fold doors, conservatories and garden rooms. Solar film for heat and glare, and film on the glazing of a home office. See solar control film.
A garden office in Worsley
Working from home has made a lot of garden rooms into offices, and a garden room is usually the worst place for screen work: full of glass, facing the house, with no shade. A Worsley garden office had three-panel bi-fold doors and a tall narrow side window, and the owner needed to see the screen and not be seen from the house.
We filmed both with a reflective solar control film. It takes the glare off the screen, reduces the heat in summer and, in daylight, makes the glass a mirror from the house side. The detail is on the Worsley job page, and our anti-glare page explains how to pick the level.

Apartments: ask first, then choose
In a leasehold block the external glass often belongs to the freeholder, and the managing agent will want to know what you are fitting. A neutral or light film is usually accepted more readily than a mirror finish. We supply technical data and a sample to make the request simple.
For bedrooms in an apartment, frosted film or blinds are the safer privacy choice, because mirror film reverses after dark. See one-way mirror film for why.

For a flat, the managing agent's agreement comes first, and we can quote once they have confirmed what is allowed. We fix the price in writing once we have measured your windows, at no charge for the visit. You can also try the estimator on the window film prices page.
Salford residential window film questions
Can I film a garden office?
Yes. They are glass-heavy and often face the house. Reflective solar film is the usual choice. A garden office is a small box of glass with little shade, so it heats quickly and can be on show to the house. Reflective solar film is the usual choice, because it cuts heat and glare at the screen and gives daytime privacy without darkening the room too much.
Do I need consent in a Quays apartment?
If you lease it, check your lease and ask the managing agent. External glass often belongs to the freeholder. Where the glass belongs to a landlord, freeholder or managing agent, get their agreement first. Most agree once they see the film is clear, internal and removable, and a light neutral finish is the easiest to approve. We can supply the paperwork they ask for.
Will film stop neighbours seeing into my terrace?
In daylight, one-way film does. After dark with the lights on, it does not. Use blinds or frosted film for the evening. Neighbours often book together, and it makes sense: we measure each house, quote each one separately and fit them on the same visit, so you share the travel and set-up. Tell us who else is interested and we will plan it.
How long does it take?
Most homes are done in a day. A single apartment is often a few hours. A typical house takes a day, a bay window an hour or two and a shopfront a morning. Large or tall glass, glass roofs and bigger commercial jobs take longer, and we confirm the time when we quote.
How should I look after my window film?
Window film needs roughly four weeks to cure fully. During that time a slightly hazy look or the odd tiny water bubble is normal and clears by itself as the last moisture escapes. Please do not scrub or scrape it. Once cured, wipe with a soft cloth or squeegee and a gentle, ammonia-free cleaner, and keep sharp objects and strong solvents away from the edges. We go through the guidance for your film at handover.
How much does window tinting cost in Salford?
It is priced by the square metre of glass, supplied and fitted. Conservatories are the biggest jobs in a home because of the amount of glass, so we quote them separately. Entry-level film starts at about £60, Solar Gard at £95 and premium 3M at £300, and a bathroom window, a bay and a conservatory are very different sums. The free survey gives you one fixed price.
Will window film damage my double glazing?
Not when it is chosen for the glass. Large panes in glass roofs and conservatories are the ones that need the most care, because they take the most heat. We look at whether the units are single or double glazed, how big each pane is and how much shade falls on it, then pick a film that will not trap too much heat. If a window is unsuitable we say so.
