Window Tinting for Lancaster Homes: Georgian Terraces, Student Houses and Bay Views
Our residential window tinting in Lancaster starts with a plain question: what is the glass doing that you do not want? Too much sun, too much glare, too many people looking in, or a bit of all three. It is applied to the inside of the glass, which keeps the weather off it and the cost well below replacement windows.
We can often tell you from photos alone whether film will help, and roughly what it would cost. We are fully insured for work in your home. We are regularly in Morecambe, Hest Bank and Galgate, and anywhere else in Lancashire.

Lancaster homes: the glass we see and what it needs
Lancaster's homes include Georgian terraces in the centre, large Victorian houses, a large student population in rented houses and some of the best views over Morecambe Bay in the north-west. The questions are mostly about older glass, rented houses and views.
Film is removable, which matters if you rent or let.
Lancaster homes and the film we reach for
| Home | What bothers people | Film |
|---|---|---|
| A Georgian terrace with tall sashes | Fading and street-level privacy | Near-clear UV film and one-way film |
| A student house | Heat and glare in bedrooms, the landlord's agreement | Removable light solar film |
| A house with a bay view | Sun and glare, a view to keep | Light neutral solar film |
| A bathroom | Overlooked | Frosted film |
Renting and letting
Many Lancaster houses are rented, and film can be removed. If you rent, check the tenancy and ask the landlord. If you let, film is a cheap improvement for bedrooms that overheat. We supply a written description of the work, the film's data and a warranty, and the film comes off without damaging the glass.

What to expect to pay in Lancaster
You pay for the glass area, not for the visit: from about £60 per square metre for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard, fitted. Some examples: a pair of French doors, £240 to £380 (about 4 m²); a bungalow's front windows, £360 to £570 (about 6 m²); three-panel patio doors, £360 to £570 (about 6 m²).
After a free survey you get one fixed price in writing. On older or protected buildings we may recommend a premium near-clear film, which sits at the upper end of the range. The window film prices page has an estimator you can play with.
Lancaster residential window film questions
Can I film a rented house?
Check the tenancy. Film can be removed later, and many landlords agree. We can provide a written description of the work and the film's data to help. We check the details at the free survey, show samples against your own glass and put one fixed price in writing, so you know what to expect before anything is booked.
Do I need consent in a conservation area?
A reflective film may. A near-clear film changes the look far less. The safest approach is to ask the council before you book, particularly for a reflective finish or a listed building. Interior film is reversible, and a near-clear film is much less likely to raise an objection, so we usually suggest samples of those first.
Will film keep my bay view?
Yes, with a light neutral or one-way film. Light, reflective and one-way films all keep a clear view out in daylight, so the view stays. We show samples against your own window at the time of day you use the room so you can judge how much it changes.
How much does window tinting cost in Lancaster?
Residential window film in Lancaster typically starts at about £60 per square metre for entry-level film, £95 for Solar Gard and £300 for 3M, supplied and fitted. Terraced houses in Lancaster have only a few windows, so a front bay and a rear door are often a few hundred pounds in total. A small bathroom window costs a few tens of pounds, a bay window a few hundred and a whole house more, depending on the film. We give one fixed price in writing after a free survey.
How long does it take to tint the windows of a house in Lancaster?
Most homes are finished in a single day. A terrace in Lancaster usually has only a handful of windows, so most are done in a morning. We clean, measure, cut and fit each pane in turn, so the work is tidy and the glass is ready to look at straight away. Bigger jobs, such as a conservatory roof or a run of tall windows, may need a second day, and we say so in the quote.
Will window film damage my double glazing?
Properly specified film is safe on most glass. On older glass, which can be thinner or single glazed, choosing a low-absorption film matters even more. Because some films absorb heat, we check glass type, pane size and shade at the survey and choose a film that reflects more and absorbs less where there is a risk. If a pane is not suitable, we tell you.
