Window Tinting for Kendal Homes: Limestone Houses, Fell Views and Garden Rooms
Window film for homes in Kendal comes in a surprising range, and residential window tinting here is about picking the one that fixes your actual problem, whether that is heat, fading, privacy or security. Film goes on the inside of the glass you already have, so there is no replacement glazing and the frames are untouched.
Whether it is one bathroom window or the whole house, the approach is the same: measure, choose, fit. The person who surveys your windows is the person who fits the film, so there are no hand-offs. We cover Staveley, Burneside and Sedgwick and the rest of Cumbria.

Kendal homes: the glass we see and what it needs
Kendal's homes are limestone, grey and solid, with fell views from the upper streets and a good many garden rooms and extensions. The glass questions are about keeping a view while cutting glare and fading.
Near-clear and light films suit limestone houses well.

- Limestone houses and fell views
- Houses on the upper streets look across the grey limestone roofs to the fells. Light films keep that view natural, and near-clear film suits the older stone houses.
- Garden rooms and extensions
- Garden rooms and extensions at the back of limestone houses heat quickly and have no shade. Reflective film makes them usable on a sunny day and gives some privacy from the house.
What to expect to pay in Kendal
You pay for the glass area, not for the visit: from about £60 per square metre for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard, fitted. As a guide, the front windows of a typical house (around 10 m²) comes to about £600 in entry-level film or £950 in Solar Gard; a garden office (about 8 m²) to £480 or £760; and a conservatory (around 15 m²) to £900 or £1,420.
After a free survey you get one fixed price in writing. Glass roofs and conservatories are the biggest jobs in a home, because every panel needs preparing and filming separately. For a sense of scale, see our Poynton job. Rough figures for other jobs are on the window film prices page.
Kendal residential window film questions
Will film keep my fell view?
Yes, with light or near-clear film. Light, reflective and one-way films all keep a clear view out in daylight, so the view stays. We show samples against your own window at the time of day you use the room so you can judge how much it changes.
Will film suit a limestone house?
A near-clear or light film changes the look least. The film is on the inside of the glass, so the stone and frames are untouched. Film on the inside of the glass is reversible, and a near-clear or light neutral film changes the look of a building far less than a reflective one. We advise at the survey on anything that may need consent.
Can you film a garden room?
Yes. They are glass-heavy, face the house and have no shade. Reflective solar film cuts the heat and glare and gives daytime privacy from the house, so the room becomes usable on a sunny day.
Do you offer a free survey in Kendal?
A visit to measure up and show samples costs nothing, and you are under no obligation afterwards. For hillside and remote properties, the survey also lets us check access and parking. You get one price in writing that does not change.
Can I fit window film myself?
It is possible, and film is sold for DIY use, but a clean professional finish is hard to achieve at home. Conservatory and glass-room panes are large, awkward to reach and often overhead, which makes them the hardest film job to do well by hand. Dust, creases and trapped bubbles are the usual faults, and large or high windows make it harder still. We apply film wet, squeegee it flat and trim it neatly, and the work is backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
