Window Tinting for Formby Homes: Dormer Bungalows, Pinewood Houses and Large Plots
Residential window tinting in Formby is a simple way to take the heat, glare and prying eyes out of a room without changing the windows. We supply and fit professional film to the inside of your glass. Because the film is fitted to existing windows, it is quicker and far cheaper than new glass, and it can be taken off again later.
The person who surveys your windows is the person who fits the film, so there are no hand-offs. We bring samples to the survey and hold them against your own windows, so you choose by what you can see rather than what a brochure shows. We are regularly in Freshfield, Ainsdale and Hightown, and anywhere else in Merseyside.

Residential window film in Formby: the local picture
Formby is a place of bungalows, dormer bungalows and large houses on large plots among the pines. The front windows are close to the road, and the garden glass faces the trees.
Our Penwortham dormer bungalow is the nearest comparison among our jobs, and the same questions come up.
A dormer bungalow nearby
Our Penwortham job is a detached dormer bungalow with a dark solar control film on the front ground-floor windows and glazed entrance porch, with the patterned top lights still showing through. Front windows on a bungalow are at eye level with the road, so privacy is the first request, and a dark film is the strongest answer. A lighter or one-way film is a gentler one. See the Penwortham job page.

- Red squirrel and pinewood roads
- Houses among the pines get dappled shade, so partly shaded panes heat unevenly. We choose a film that reflects more and absorbs less.
- Bungalows near the dunes
- Formby has many bungalows with front windows at pavement height, so privacy is the first question. Dark or one-way film gives the strongest daytime cover, and we show lighter alternatives before you decide.
Formby window film: how the price works
There is no day rate or hidden extras on the film itself: it is a price per square metre, from roughly £60 for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard. As a guide, a kitchen window (around 1.2 m²) comes to about £70 in entry-level film or £115 in Solar Gard; the front windows of a typical house (about 10 m²) to £600 or £950; and a bathroom window (around 0.6 m²) to £35 or £55.
After a free survey you get one fixed price in writing. A bungalow's big front windows account for most of the figure, and the rest of the house adds little. Have a look at our Euxton job for a comparison.
Formby residential window film questions
Is dark film right for a bungalow?
It gives the strongest daytime privacy. Lighter films give a gentler version. Dark film gives the strongest daytime privacy and glare control, and bungalow windows at pavement level are where it suits best. The trade-off is a darker room, so we show lighter alternatives, such as one-way film, and let you judge the balance on your own window.
Will film cope with sandy, salty air?
Yes. It is inside the glass. Because film is on the inside of the glass, wind, rain, salt and sand never touch it. What matters is how much sun the glass gets, and coastal light is bright, so film often helps even more near the sea.
Will it work at night?
Not mirror or dark film. Use blinds or frosted film. At night, when the room is lit and the street is dark, mirror films stop hiding you, because the brighter side now shows through. That is why frosted film, or a blind for the evening, is the answer for rooms used after dark.
Do I need permission to tint my windows?
For a house you own, film applied to the inside of the glass generally needs no consent. Check whether your home is listed, in a conservation area or leasehold, whether the windows belong to a freeholder or management company, and ask your landlord if you rent. We advise at the survey and supply data sheets and a description of the work.
Can window film be removed?
Yes, film can be removed. We use heat or steam and careful scraping, and the glass is normally left clean. If your needs change, we can replace it with a different film. See our window film removal and replacement service.
