Window Tinting for Crosby and Blundellsands Homes: Coastal Villas, Sunrooms and Conservatories
Homeowners ask us for residential window tinting in Crosby and Blundellsands when a room is too hot, too bright or too exposed. Film is fitted to the inside of existing windows, which makes it quicker and cheaper than replacing glass. Conservatory film makes a conservatory or glass room usable in summer, cutting the heat that comes through the roof and walls.
Rooms can stay in use while we work, because film goes on one window at a time. If film turns out not to be the answer for your glass, we will say so. Our patch includes Waterloo, Thornton and Hightown and the wider Merseyside area.

Homes in Crosby and Blundellsands: what the glass is like and what helps
The coast road here is lined with large Victorian and Edwardian villas, and many have been given a sunroom or conservatory on the garden side. Our Euxton job, a bungalow sunroom, is the nearest example, and it is a very typical story.
A conservatory is one of the hottest rooms in a house, and one where film can make a room usable again.
A sunroom in Euxton
Our Euxton job is a bungalow sunroom with a tiled roof, which means the problem is the walls of glass and not the ceiling. We filmed the conservatory windows and top lights, plus the French doors and side windows, with a reflective solar control film. A tiled-roof sunroom suits film well, because the glass that lets in the sun is all in the walls.
The same applies to many Crosby villas with a sunroom on the back. See the Euxton job page, and our conservatory film page.

- The coast road villas
- Large villas along the coast road have sunrooms on the garden side. Reflective film on the walls and doors makes them usable in summer.
- Another Place and the shore
- Houses near the shore have big skies and low sun off the sea, which comes in at an angle blinds struggle with. A light neutral film evens it out and keeps the view of the water and the beach.
Costs for window tinting in Crosby and Blundellsands
Film is priced per square metre, and the fitting is part of that price. Expect from about £60 for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard. To put numbers on it, a conservatory of about 15 m² would start at £900 (entry-level) or £1,420 (Solar Gard). For a bathroom window, around 0.6 m², think £35 to £55. For a bungalow's front windows, around 6 m², think £360 to £570.
Prices move with the film, the size of the panes and how hard the glass is to reach, so these are rough signposts only. After we have measured and seen how the glass is reached, the price is fixed in writing. You can see how a similar job looked in our Sale job. Crosby and Blundellsands residential window film questions
Can film go on a conservatory?
Yes. It is one of the most worthwhile jobs. Conservatories are among the hottest rooms in a house, and film makes them usable again. Each pane is measured, cut and fitted individually, so bays, curves and large glazed doors are all filmed to match. The film is applied wet and squeegeed flat, and trimmed clear of seals, handles and runners.
Does it matter whether the roof is glass or tiled?
Yes. It decides where the film goes. A glass roof needs the roof panels filmed, and a tiled roof means the walls and doors. Each pane is measured, cut and fitted individually, so bays, curves and large glazed doors are all filmed to match. The film is applied wet and squeegeed flat, and trimmed clear of seals, handles and runners.
Does sea air affect film?
No. It is inside the glass. Film is applied to the inside of the glass, so weather, spray, salt and sand do not reach it. What matters is the glass itself and how much sun it takes, which we check at the survey. Film on a sea-facing window lasts as long as film anywhere else.
Do you offer a free survey in Crosby and Blundellsands?
Yes, the survey is free. We visit, measure the glass, look at how it is reached and hold samples against your windows, then send one fixed written price. For simple jobs, a few photos can give you a first idea before we come.
Can I fit window film myself?
Film is sold for DIY, and a small flat window on a good day can be done at home. Conservatory and glass-room panes are large, awkward to reach and often overhead, which makes them the hardest film job to do well by hand. Where it goes wrong is size and edges: a large pane, a curved bay or a high window is hard to keep dust-free and flat, and a poor result usually has to be stripped off and redone.
