Window Tinting for Burnley Homes: Stone Terraces, Hillside Houses and Pennine Weather

If you are looking for residential window tinting in Burnley, the short version is that we fit thin, clear film to the inside of your windows, doors and conservatory glass, and it deals with heat, glare, fading and privacy. For privacy that does not switch off at night, frosted film keeps the light and loses the audience. On single or tired double glazing, thermal insulation film takes the edge off a cold window, and it does a bit for summer sun as well.

If film turns out not to be the answer for your glass, we will say so. Whether it is one bathroom window or the whole house, the approach is the same: measure, choose, fit. Whether you are in Padiham, Nelson and Brierfield or elsewhere in Lancashire, you get the same survey and the same fixed price.

Residential window film in Burnley: the local picture

Burnley's houses climb the Pennine slopes, in terraces and stone houses, in a climate that is cooler and wetter than the rest of the county. That changes what film is for. Summer heat is a lesser problem, and winter heat loss through older windows, and plain privacy, are greater.

That makes thermal insulation film, and one-way film for terraces, the two to know about.

What thermal film does

Thermal insulation film is a low-emissivity film that reflects heat back into the room in winter, and takes some of the edge off summer sun. It helps most on older, single or poorly insulated glass. It is not a replacement for good double glazing, and the saving is modest.

Costs for window tinting in Burnley

You pay for the glass area, not for the visit: from about £60 per square metre for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard, fitted. Worked through, a glazed front door and side panels at about 2.5 square metres starts at £150 with entry-level film and £240 with Solar Gard, a kitchen window at about 1.2 starts at £70 and £115, and a bay window at about 3.5 starts at £210 and £330.

If your windows are raised or awkward to reach, we allow for that in the figure. You will have a fixed written price after the survey, and no obligation to go ahead. For a sense of scale, see our Saddleworth job. There is an estimator on the window film prices page if you want to try your own sizes.

Burnley residential window film questions

Will thermal film make my home warm?

It helps a little on old glass. It is not a substitute for better glazing. The gain is modest, and we say so. Film on the inside of the glass is reversible, and a near-clear or light neutral film changes the look of a building far less than a reflective one. We advise at the survey on anything that may need consent.

Will film keep my view?

Yes, with one-way or light films. Light, reflective and one-way films all keep a clear view out in daylight, so the view stays. We show samples against your own window at the time of day you use the room so you can judge how much it changes.

Will mirror film hide me at night?

No. Use blinds or frosted film. At night, when the room is lit and the street is dark, mirror films stop hiding you, because the brighter side now shows through. That is why frosted film, or a blind for the evening, is the answer for rooms used after dark.

Can window film be removed?

Yes. Many terraced houses in Burnley are rented or change hands often, which is a good reason to know that film comes off cleanly. Film can be taken off, usually leaving the glass clean, using heat or steam and careful scraping, and it can be replaced with a different film if your needs change. That makes it suitable for rented homes, leased premises and glass you may want to change later. See our window film removal and replacement service.

Will window film reduce my energy bills?

Solar control film reduces the heat entering a room, which can reduce the need for fans or air conditioning in summer, and thermal film reflects some heat back in winter. The effect is real but modest, so we do not promise a saving. The main gains are comfort, less glare and more privacy.

How much does window tinting cost in Burnley?

Residential window film in Burnley typically starts at about £60 per square metre for entry-level film, £95 for Solar Gard and £300 for 3M, supplied and fitted. A bungalow's large front windows are the main cost, and the rest of the house is usually modest. A small bathroom window costs a few tens of pounds, a bay window a few hundred and a whole house more, depending on the film. We give one fixed price in writing after a free survey.
