Window Tinting for Bolton Homes: New-Builds, Mill-Town Terraces and Moorland Edges
We provide residential window tinting in Bolton: professional window film for houses, bungalows and flats, fitted to the glass you already have. Frosted film gives the look of etched glass at a fraction of the price, and it can be taken off later. Conservatory film makes a conservatory or glass room usable in summer, cutting the heat that comes through the roof and walls.
Film that is chosen for the glass lasts for years, and the maker's warranty is part of the price. Evening and weekend appointments are available if daytime does not suit. Westhoughton, Horwich and Farnworth and the neighbouring towns are all part of our regular patch.

Window film for Bolton homes: what we find locally
Bolton has two kinds of home that call for film, and they could hardly be more different. New-build estates around Westhoughton and Horwich have big rear doors and conservatories, and not much garden shade. The older streets of the town are rows of terraces, close to the pavement, where privacy matters more than heat.
We fit window film for both. A Westhoughton new-build is our closest published job.
A new-build in Westhoughton
New-build houses are built with glass in mind: two sets of French doors, a three-pane window and a narrow side window across the back of one Westhoughton house, all in white uPVC, all facing the garden. The room behind was bright and hot, and the owners wanted to soften the view in from the garden as well.
We filmed all of it with a reflective solar control film, which cut the glare and heat and gave some daytime privacy. New-build double glazing often suits film well, but we check the type and size of the panes first. The detail is on the Westhoughton job page.

Bolton homes and the film we reach for
| Home | What bothers people | Film |
|---|---|---|
| New-build with patio and French doors | Heat, glare and being on show from the garden | Reflective or light solar film |
| Victorian terrace | Front room right on the pavement | One-way film by day, frosted or blinds for the evening. See privacy window film |
| Conservatory | Too hot to use in summer | Conservatory window tinting |
| Front door and hall glass | Hall on show | Frosted film |
| Moorland-edge house with big windows | Sun, fading, a view you want to keep | Near-clear or light solar film. See UV protection film |
Terraces: privacy that works after dark
On a terraced street the front window opens straight onto the pavement. One-way film gives daytime privacy and keeps the view, but at night, with the light on, the effect reverses. The honest answer for a front room used in the evening is film for the day and blinds or frosted film for the night. We would rather you knew that before ordering. See one-way mirror window film and frosted film.

Costs for window tinting in Bolton
Film is priced per square metre, and the fitting is part of that price. Expect from about £60 for entry-level film and £95 for Solar Gard. To put numbers on it, a bay window of about 3.5 m² would start at £210 (entry-level) or £330 (Solar Gard). For a glazed front door and side panels, around 2.5 m², think £150 to £240. For a conservatory, around 15 m², think £900 to £1,420.
We fix one price in writing after the free survey, so there are no surprises on the day. On an estate of similar houses, grouping neighbours can lower the cost per house. A comparable job is our Westhoughton one.
Bolton residential window film questions
Can I film new-build double glazing?
Usually, yes. We check the glass first, because large panes and some sealed units can be stressed by heat build-up. New double glazing usually takes film well, but we check the glass type, the size of each pane and any shade first, because large sealed units can build up stress from heat. Your glazing supplier may also have conditions about film, and we can provide the technical data.
Will film stop people seeing into my terrace?
In daylight, one-way film does. In the evening with the lights on it does not, so blinds or frosted film are still needed. One-way film gives a clear daytime barrier for people outside looking in, while you still see out. After dark with the lights on it works the other way round, which is why a blind or frosted film is the answer for rooms you use in the evening.
Can you do a whole house in a day?
Most homes, yes. A typical house with a handful of windows and doors is cleaned, measured, cut and fitted in a single day. Larger properties, tall glass or glass roofs may take longer, and we confirm the time when we quote.
Is the film good for protecting floors from fading?
Yes. Most solar films block up to 99% of UV. Most solar films block up to 99% of ultraviolet light, the biggest single cause of fading. Film slows fading rather than stopping it, but wood floors, carpets, soft furnishings and artwork benefit, particularly in rooms with large south or west-facing windows.
Can I still see out of tinted windows in Bolton?
In daylight, yes, with every film apart from frosted. On a terrace the daytime view of the street matters less than privacy, so mirror film suits it well. The view out is clear, a little toned down by a reflective or dark film. At night with a light on inside, the effect reverses for mirror films, which is why we always say that frosted film or a blind is the answer for evening privacy.
Do you offer a free survey in Bolton?
The survey is free and carries no obligation. We come to your home in Bolton, look at the glass, measure up and hold samples against your windows, then send one fixed written quote.
Can I fit window film myself?
DIY kits work best on small, flat windows. Houses on estates tend to have big, plain patio doors where every flaw in a DIY film shows against the garden. For anything big, tall, curved or on show to customers, a professional fit avoids bubbles, creases and gaps, and the film is backed by the maker's warranty.
