Anti-Graffiti Window Film for Shopfronts and Transport Glass in the North West
Anti-graffiti window film is a clear, tough, sacrificial layer fitted over glass. When someone scratches, etches or tags the window, the damage lands on the film and not on the glass. You peel off the damaged film and replace it, for a fraction of the cost of a new pane.
It is used on shopfronts, bus shelters, trams, trains and station glass, and anywhere vandalised glass has become a repeat cost. We fit it to commercial glass across the North West. We bring anti-graffiti window film to Manchester, Salford and the rest of Greater Manchester, Chester and Cheshire, Liverpool and Merseyside, Preston, Lancaster and Lancashire, and Carlisle and Cumbria.

The short answer
Anti-graffiti film does not stop people vandalising glass. It makes the vandalism cheap to put right. Scratches and etching mark the film instead of the glass, and the film is replaced rather than the pane. It is clear, so the glass looks the same until it is needed.
What it protects against
Scratching
Keys, coins and blades scratch the film, not the glass. Often called scratchiti, it is the commonest damage to shop and transport glass.
Acid etching
Etching paste can permanently mark glass. The film takes the attack and the glass underneath is spared.
Paint, marker and stickers
These sit on the film and can be cleaned, or come away with the film when it is replaced.
How a sacrificial film works
The film is thick, hard-wearing and optically clear, and fitted to the outer face of the glass so it takes the attack. Some films are made in several layers, so the damaged top layer can be peeled off to reveal a fresh one underneath. Others are replaced in one piece. Either way, the glass beneath stays intact.
It is not a security film. It will not stop a window being broken, and it does not make glass any stronger. If the problem is break-ins, see security window film. Anti-graffiti film is for glass that is being damaged, not smashed.

Film or new glass?
| Anti-graffiti film | Replacing the glass | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost of each incident | Low. Peel and replace | High. A new pane, and sometimes a whole unit |
| Time to put right | Quick, often a short visit | Lead time, and boarding up while you wait |
| Look | Clear, with a very slight film surface | Pristine |
| Over a year of repeated damage | Predictable and affordable | Can add up quickly |
Shopfronts, shelters, trams and stations
Most of our commercial work is on shopfronts and business fronts, and that is where we fit anti-graffiti film. Shops, cafes, pubs and offices on high streets and retail parades are the usual jobs.
Transport operators, councils and station managers have the same problem on a larger scale: shelters, tram windows, train glass and station screens. We have not yet published a transport job, so if you manage this kind of glass, tell us the types and quantities and we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.
How we fit it
Survey
We look at the glass, check how it is damaged and agree which panes are worth protecting.
Clean
Every pane is cleaned thoroughly so the film bonds evenly.
Fit
Applied to the outer face, squeegeed flat and trimmed to the frame.
Plan for replacement
We explain how replacement works and what to keep to hand, so a damaged panel can be put right quickly.

Anti-graffiti film questions
Does anti-graffiti film stop vandalism?
No. It makes it cheap and quick to fix. The damage goes on the film, which is replaced, rather than on the glass.
Is it the same as anti-scratch film?
Yes, closely. Anti-scratch, scratch-resistant and anti-vandal film are all names for a protective layer that takes scratching and etching.
Can I see it?
It is clear. Most people will not notice it on the glass.
Will it stop a window being smashed?
No. See security window film for glass that must resist attack.
How often does it need replacing?
It depends on how often the glass is attacked. In a quiet street it may last for years.
Can you fit it to transport glass?
Tell us the glass and quantities. We will say honestly whether we are the right fit.
Do you fit anti-graffiti film across the North West?
Yes. We fit sacrificial anti-graffiti film on shopfronts, bus shelters and street-level glass in Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria, including around Manchester, Salford, Liverpool, Chester, Preston, Lancaster and Carlisle. It takes the scratching and is replaced when worn, which costs far less than new glass.
